The new Reserve Collection marks the first time te Pa has expanded into the ultra-premium New Zealand wine category. / In terms of winemaking the Reserve wines are made as ‘hands off’ as possible, the aim being to create wines which express their unique sense of place. Bennett says, “These are wines that are pure and authentic expressions of where and how they are grown. Of course, being expressive is only one part of the equation; these wines also have to be delicious and they will only be produced from sites and in seasons where we consider the fruit quality to be exceptional.” / Apple crumble and marzipan notes are supported by primary aromas of lemon, peach and fig with subtle jasmine and citrus blossom florals. Some high-quality oak adds a wisp of smoke and some vanilla, flint, and caramel notes. The palate is beautifully textured, with almond, citrus rind, and spice flavours sprinkled over a core of crème brülée. A subtle oyster shell minerality gives way to a long lingering finish.
