Carrick Excelsior Pinot Noir 750ml
Named for the coal seam which was mined during the goldrush and lies beneath the Carrick vineyards, the Excelsior is our finest expression of Pinot Noir. The wine is aged in barrel for 18 months, then bottled without fining. It is contemplative, complex, layered, earthy, intense and persistent.
Keeping alive the tradition of linking art with wine, each vintage we plan to celebrate a different New Zealand artist. The 2019 Excelsior is the first of the series and celebrates a painting by local, Cromwell-based artist Rachel Hirabayashi, called "Under the Lake" - inspired by the flooding of the Clutha River caused by the construction of the Clyde Dam.
