Terms & Conditions

1. MEMBERSHIP and CONDITIONS

Membership in the BeautyVIP programme and use of the Card shall be subject to the Conditions. When you use the Card you are deemed to have agreed to the Conditions.

2. CARD

Where a person in the BeautyVIP programme does not hold a Ballantynes Card, they will be issued a BeautyVIP Card. The Card remains our property and must be returned to us if we request its return. BeautyVIP cards will not be issued for online membership.

3. ONLINE BEAUTY VIP MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

You are eligible to be a BeautyVIP member if you:

  • are an individual.
  • are resident in New Zealand and have a valid New Zealand postal address.
  • have a valid email address
  • fully provide requested membership information and the information provided is true and correct

If eligible, you may sign up for membership online following these instructions. Ballantynes reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its sole discretion.

4. INSTORE BEAUTY VIP MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION - Non Account Holder

You are eligible to be a BeautyVIP member if you:

  • are an individual.
  • are resident in New Zealand and have a valid New Zealand postal address.
  • have a valid email address
  • make a Qualifying Purchase.
  • fully provide requested membership information and the information provided is true and correct

If eligible, you may sign up for membership instore at a beauty counter. Ballantynes reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its sole discretion.

5. APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP - Account Holder

Account Holders will automatically become a member of BeautyVIP programme. Account Holders will use their Ballantynes Card and accordingly will not be issued a Card. Where an Account Holder uses their Ballantynes Card to accumulate points, the Account Holder will be deemed to have agreed to these Conditions. If there is any conflict between the Conditions and the Ballantynes Card Conditions, the Ballantynes Card Conditions shall prevail (unless otherwise advised by Ballantynes). For clarity, clauses 2 and 4 shall not apply to a holder of a Ballantynes Card. Ballantynes staff, stakeholders, business, and corporate cardholders are not eligible for membership.

6. POINTS

Whenever you make a Qualifying Purchase you will collect points based on the amount spent. For every dollar you spend you will receive one (1) point. From time to time for limited periods and as promoted or advertised, additional points may be earned for every dollar you spend. Each Qualifying Purchase you make will be rounded down to the nearest dollar to determine the number of points earned. Points have an expiry date of 24 months from date of purchase.

7. REDEEMING POINTS

When the points on your Card total 500 points you will be credited with $50 of Rewards Credit and 500 points will be deducted from your Card. Rewards Credit:

  • Can only be used for making purchases from the Beauty Area, Spa and Solace Hair & Beauty, Instore and Online. Follow these instructions to learn how to redeem your points online. 
  • Must be redeemed in full against a purchase, no change or part-redemption is allowed.
  • Have an expiry date of 6 months from the date of issue.
  • Are not redeemable for cash or gift cards.
  • Cannot be used as payment on Ballantynes accounts.
  • Are not transferable.
  • Cannot be redeemed, sold, converted, exchanged, assigned or otherwise transferred for cash or any other consideration not permitted by these Conditions.
  • Any BeautyVIP vouchers earned will be added to your balance upon dispatch or collection (for click and collect). The balance does not update immediately after check out.
  • BeautyVIP points can only be redeemed on full price items and therefor points will not be awarded when purchasing products at a discounted price instore or online. 

8. LOST CARDS

You must notify us immediately when you become aware that your Card is lost or stolen. Ballantynes may issue a replacement Card at its discretion.

9. CHANGE OF DETAILS

It is your responsibility to notify us of any change to your contact details. You can manage your details and communication preferences on your Online account at www.ballantynes.co.nz under the “My details” section. Watch this video to learn how to change your details online.  

10. CHANGES TO CONDITIONS 

We may vary any of these Conditions at any time. We will ensure that the current version of the Conditions is always posted on our website at www.ballantynes.co.nz.

11. PRIVACY ACT

We respect your privacy. We will collect personal information from you to enable Ballantynes to market goods and services to you. If you do not provide the required personal information you will be ineligible for membership. The information we collect may include your name, address, email address, and telephone numbers. You have the right to access your personal information held by us and to update or amend any of that information. You are required to keep your personal information held by us as accurate as possible. We may use your personal information to market goods provided by us; and use electronic communication (including but not limited to, email, text messaging or instant messaging). Ballantynes will not provide your personal information to third parties for marketing other goods and services.

12. TERMINATION

You may withdraw from the Beauty VIP programme by advising our customer service staff that you no longer wish to participate in the programme. You can also OPT-OUT from the Beauty VIP loyalty program online at www.ballantynes.co.nz under "My BeautyVIP" section. Watch this video to learn how to Opt-Out form BeautyVIP. 

Ballantynes may revoke your membership for any reason at any time without notice (reasons include but are not limited to a breach of the Conditions). In the event that your membership is revoked or Ballantynes terminates the BeautyVIP programme, all accrued points and Reward Credits will be cancelled.

13. GOVERNING LAW

The Conditions (and the services provided by us) will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand. You submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand with respect to any matter arising out of or in connection with the these Conditions and use of the Card.

14. RETURNS

If you return a product purchased using Reward Credit, the transaction will be reversed meaning you will receive Reward Credit in return. If you return a product any points earned in the original transaction will be reversed.

 16. DEFINITIONS

 In these Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires:-

"Account Holder" means a person with a credit account with Ballantynes and who holds a Ballantynes Card;

"Ballantynes Card" means the card issued to an Account Holder for their credit account;

"Ballantynes Card Conditions" means the conditions for use of the Ballantynes Card;

"Beauty Area" means the designated cosmetic counters and services provided in Solace Hair & Beauty or such other area as Ballantynes may designate in its sole discretion from time to time;

"Card" means the card issued for the Beauty VIP programme or for an Account Holder their Ballantynes Card;

"Conditions" means the terms and conditions for the Beauty VIP;

"Party" means either J Ballantyne and Company Limited or the Beauty VIP member;

"Qualifying Purchases" means the purchase of full price cosmetics only from the designated cosmetic counters and services provided in Solace Hair & Beauty. In addition Ballantynes may choose to offer points on other products at its sole discretion;

"Rewards Credit" means the credit provided by Ballantynes for points earned in the Beauty VIP programme;

"Website" means www.ballantynes.co.nz;

"Ballantynes", "we", "our" or "us" means J Ballantyne and Company Limited;

"you" or "your" means the BeautyVIP member.
