About Seasalt Cornwall

From the start of our partnership in 2014 to the launch of Seasalt’s first international shop in shop in 2021, Seasalt Cornwall and Ballantynes New Zealand have always had a strong relationship. Today, Ballantynes is Seasalt’s exclusive distributor in New Zealand. It will continue to sell the brand through its stores and online channels and will also open a number of partner-owned Seasalt shops over the coming years. The first of these shops opened in Autumn 2023 in the Milford Centre, Auckland, and we’re excited to have further locations in the works.

Seagrass is a flowering marine plant that has the potential to capture carbon from the environment up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests. It also provides a habitat for marine life, cleans surrounding seawater, and helps to protect the coast from erosion. However, in the UK, approximately 92% of seagrass was lost in the last century.

THE SEASALT STORY

On the south west coast of England, almost completely surrounded by sea, our home in Cornwall is famous for its windswept cliffs, sandy beaches and rolling hills. It’s where we were founded in 1981, with a little family shop selling workwear and waterproof coats to fishermen and sailors, as well as local artists who chose practical jumpsuits and smocks for long days in the studio. Today, Cornwall’s wild landscape, maritime heritage and artistic community still inspire everything we do. Our collections focus on quality and longevity, with timeless styles in carefully sourced fabrics that feel good and fit well. Designed for every body and crafted with care, Seasalt pieces are made to bring joy to your day and inspire a life worn well.

Each season, our team of in-house artists fill sketchbook pages with new prints and designs inspired by Cornwall’s rugged landscape and artistic communities. We bring every piece to life with carefully considered colours and handcrafted prints inspired by the land, sea and sky. From bright spring palettes to rich autumnal hues, each garment is designed to pair effortlessly with the rest of our collections and weave seamlessly into existing wardrobes.
